In the last few weeks everyone seems to have succumbed to viruses from sniffles to full-blown flu. Working in air conditioned offices; attending schools and travelling on public transport means this is all but inevitable and rather than sealing yourself in hermetic bubble – you are better up boosting your defenses.
Smoothies are a great way to get a tasty boost of vitamins into your system on a daily basis and Joyous Health did a great feature on immunity-boosting smoothies at the end of last year, which would be well worth revisiting now.
Our favorite is the Chocolate Popeye Flu-Fighter:
The Chocolate Popeye – Flu Fighter
- 1 handful Spinach
- 1 frozen Banana
- 2 tbs. raw cacao powder
- 2 scoops almond butter
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 2 cups almond or coconut milk
